Hi all - just trying to find a breakdown of what DupeBlocker can do as compared to standard Salesforce duplicate rules? I have been looking around and had no luck - any help appreciated as always - thanks!

Hi @bhare1357 ,
Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Salesforce standard duplicate rules are a great starting point for any organization trying to manage their duplicates. However, as a Salesforce org grows, so does the complexity of its data, and therefore, organizations start to encounter limitations in the standard Salesforce duplicate rules, such as:
- Maximum of 5 duplicate rules per object
- Maximum of 3 matching rules per duplicate rule
- Maximum of 25 total matching rules active at once
- Maximum of 1 lookup relationship field per matching rule
- Only 2 variations of matching methods allowed:
- Exact
- Fuzzy logic - dependent on field type
- Inability to auto-merge records
- Inability to merge custom object records (idea that has not been updated for over 5 years)
As organizations start to encounter these limitations and seek more in-depth matching options and extensive on-insert and update actions, they turn to solutions such as DupeBlocker, which comes for free as part of any DemandTools V or DemandTools Elements subscription. DupeBlocker goes far beyond Salesforce duplicate rules with key highlights such as:
- No limit on scenarios active per object
- Up to 40 scenario rules per object active at a time
- No limitation on the number of lookup fields referenced in a scenario rule
- On-insert actions:
- Block
- Redirect to existing record and open the record in edit with the inputted data
- Report duplicate as a warning
- Do nothing
- Auto-convert leads
- Auto-merge record
- Reference custom Apex or Visualforce pages
- On-update actions:
- Block update
- Report duplicate as a warning
- Do nothing
- Reference custom Apex or Visualforce pages
- Over 18 different matching type options
- Ability to merge custom objects through the DupeBlocker UI
- Ability to customize auto-merge settings
- Ability to integrate with DemandTools V
- Deduplicate off DupeBlocker warnings
- Share dedupe scenario to DupeBlocker
- Ability to handle web-to-lead duplicates

Hi Anthony - Is there a way to use cross-field match in "Fields To Compare" in the Match Records step of DupeBlocker? It is available in Dedupe but looks available for DupeBlocker. Appreciate your help in figuring this out!

Hi @Chandana ,
Absolutely - that's what I would recommend if you're also using DemandTools 5.x's Dedupe module.
Here's a screenshot of a scenario:
