Sending Infrastructure: No MX record(s) for sending domain (SPAM Test: Design & Content)

Hey Validity Community!
How worried should I be?  I believe our sending/return-path domain click.ourdomain.com should have an MX record. However we delegated our domain to ESP via CNAME.  We cant have MX records on CNAME.  Should I re-deglate using NS records?

Hi @EmailAnt,

Great question! I think instead of using a CNAME, you should delegate that subdomain (click.ourdomain.com) using NS records is a good idea. This allows your ESP to add an MX record so that bounces work, ensure that authentication is in place and accurate (SPF, DKIM, & DMARC) and then be able to fully manage the subdomain properly.

Check in with your ESP on this as well for their feedback, but this is my recommendation for this scenario.

Good luck!

Best,

JulieS

Hey @JulieS_Validity
Great advice - this is exactly what I went ahead and did anyway.  I guess I was more looking to start a discussion on whether it matters or not.

But thanks for commenting; much appreciated.
