Converting Leads to existing Contacts, but overwriting more recent address

Hello!

I'm looking for a way to use the Convert tool in Demand Tools to convert a Lead to an existing Contact...but overwrite the address field if the Lead record is more recently created than the existing Contact.  I know that the Salesforce default does not update the Contact field when converting if the Contact field is already populated, so wondering if there is a way around this in DT.  For example:

Lead created 12/12/2024 has address in Philadelphia, PA.

Existing Contact created 5/1/2022 has an address in Pittsburgh, PA.

We'd want to convert the Lead into the Contact, but keep the most recent Philadelpia address.

Are there Field Rules that can be adjusted for Converting, like there are for DeDuping records?

Thanks!

Hey @lfenimore - Great use case. Unfortunately, there wouldn't be a way to process this cleanly in just Convert as of now. You could use Import to push updates but you wouldn't be able to make a decision based off created date like Dedupe and Convert will use the same "Update If Empty" logic you are experiencing in SF. The best solution as of now would be mapping the lead address using Import to the a custom field on the matching contact just to ensure you don't lose the information. Please reach out to us at DemandToolsCOE@validity.com if you'd like to explore that process further. I also would highly encourage you to submit a feature request to a product team to have this option added to Convert!
