Why not Minot?

Hello!  I'm a DemandTools newb trying to load a CSV spreadsheet of name and address data to Salesforce.  I'm having issues with the "State Match - Long" Transform.  In the CSV file, I have a column of two-letter state codes that I'm loading to a custom field on the Lead object that needs the full state name.  For some reason, it won't translate "ND" to "North Dakota."

Other states work fine.  Why does DemandTools not like North Dakota?

Thanks for your time.

Hi @ChrisR, I ran a quick test in my environment both within Modify and Import and each time it was able to update ND to North Dakota. I did test various inputs of ND in Import - Some with extra spaces, lower case, etc. and it's important to note that it should work as long as there are no extra spaces or characters within the string.

If that is not what is causing the issue, you can try resaving the file as UTF-8 encoded as shown in the photo here. This may not work, but sometimes there can be something incorrect with the formatting or encoding of the values and UTF-8 can help mitigate some of that.

If after reviewing these items DemandTools still is not transforming the values, I would suggest opening a case with our awesome support team through this link!

I'll give that a try.  Thanks!

I tried saving as UTF-8 and that made no difference.  I also tried creating an entirely new spreadsheet with just state codes in it:

I applied the "State Match - Long" Transform to the STATE column and got this:

I'll open a case.  Thanks!
